Grammy Awards to Pay Tribute to Levon Helm on Sunday

The late Levon Helm, who died last April, will be remembered at the Grammy Awards on Sunday in a tribute that will include Elton John and Mumford and Sons. The singer and drummer for The Ban79844_LevonHelm_DirtFarmerd, as well as a sidekick for Fayetteville’s Ronnie Hawkins when he was in The Hawks, was from east Arkansas but had strong ties to Northwest Arkansas, where he sometimes lived. His family moved to the area in the 1960s, and Helm would occasionally spend lengthy periods of time in Springdale and Fayetteville, especially in the 1960s and 1970s.

The Grammy Awards will air at 7 p.m. CST Sunday on CBS.
