Lloyd Andrews, known as “Arkansas Slim” and “Slim Andrews,” had a successful career as an entertainer after leaving his Spavinaw Creek home in Benton County. His achievements included appearing in ten Tex Ritter Films, like the one above that features a segment that is distinctly Arkansan down to the “sooie” at the end of the tune. To the many TV-watching children in the 1960s to early 1980s, he was the grandfatherly cowboy who hosted “The Fun Club” on KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas, which was received by many Northwest Arkansas cable subscribers. He lived in Gravette, Arkansas, in his later years where he died in 1992.
The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture has a nice entry about him.
